The ISNO is a non-profitable organization

  1. for promotion and advancement of scientific knowledge and research in tumours of the brain, spinal; cord and peripheral nerves
  2. increasing the awareness amongst both physicians and general public regarding the proper management of tumours of the brain, spinal; cord and peripheral nerves .
  3. to increase interaction between Clinicians of different specilaities dealing with management of these Tumours at the National and International level; and also between clinicians and basic scientists working in this field.
  4. to bring uniformity in management through introduction of Evidence-Based Guidelines and management protocols.
  5. to encourage basic and clinical research in Neuro-Oncology.

ISNO Dr. Abhijit Guha"NeuroOncological tumors represents a diverse group of benign and malignant tumors arising from the central or peripheral nervous system, which recognizes no geographical, racial, gender, social or age boundaries. Significant progress has been achieved in our understanding and managment of these tumors, however, patients with malignant brain, spinal and peripheral nerve tumors still have a guarded prognosis. As a global issue, the coordinated activity of national and international societies such as ISNO, SNO (Society of NeuroOncology) and others will be pivotal in optimizing our activities towards the ultimate goal of helping our patients.

NeuroOncology, like other cancers require integration of a multi-disciplinary approach, with involvement of clinicians, scientists and affiliated health care workers. ISNO will provide such a forum to facilitate exchange of ideas amongst clinicians (medical, surgical, radiotherapy neurooncologists, neuropathologists, neuroradiologists), basic scientists, nurses and others dealing with these tumors.
